Teaching Philosophy

"I approach each student as a unique and promising artist. I help each student set individual goals, then plan and prepare lesson materials tailored for what they intend to achieve. I encourage them to work hard, dream big, be creative and enjoy the rewards of learning and performing music in community."
Career and Teaching Experience
I began to learn the violin at the age of seven, received a degree in Art and Violin Performance from the University of Chile Conservatory in 2006 with the highest distinction. I have a Master Degree in String applied pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. Played violin in the principal orchestras in Santiago and Viña del Mar; developed a career performing Chilean folkloric music including Trova, Andean music and different Latin rhythms. I have taught violin and viola at music academies in Santiago and Chicago to students of all levels successfully mixing the traditional European methods, the Suzuki method, improvisation, folk and pop music, the use of technology and creativity.  Since moving to Chicago in 2011 I have been playing with a diverse group of musicians and ensembles, covering different musical genres including jazz, folk and classical music, I have played in venues in Chile, Argentina, Peru, the United Kingdom and the United States. I also teach violin and string ensembles at The People's Music School in Chicago
